It’s about that time of year again! Halloween! Some blog buddies and I got together to bring you 80+ DIY Halloween costumes, including this sweet Handmade Teddy Bear Costume!
I’m not biased or anything but is this not the THE CUTEST LITTLE TEDDY BEAR you’ve ever seen in your life?
I’m teaming up with Jamie Dorobek and her handmade Halloween costume site, Really Awesome Costumes to bring y’all tons of easy ideas to craft up DIY Halloween costumes for everyone including your pets, family costumes, and even a trunk or treat idea! Along with my Easy Teddy Bear Costume, I’m sharing 88+ more really awesome handmade costume ideas from talented bloggers everywhere!
Here are the supplies you’ll need:
- shirt (I chose white because I wanted to do a white teddy bear but you can choose whichever color of bear you want)
- 2 furry pom poms
- 1 yard craft fur
- 2 Alligator clips
- sewing machine & thread
- scissors
- glue gun & sticks
- headband for older children (opt)
First off I measured the fur trim and pinned it to the shirt right side out. Now you can sew the fur onto the neckline and cuffs.
The fur is really forgiving and hides all the thread so you don’t have to be too precise. Now you’ll make your teddy bear ears. If you’re child is old enough to wear a headband you can just tie the pom pom elastics around the headband. If you have a little one like my daughter who always pulls off her headband then these little clips make these ears unnoticeable to little hands. Clip off the elastic off pom poms then adhere the clips with hot glue. This can be tricky because the hot glue leaks through the clip and can glue your clip stuck. This can be avoided by opening the clip while the glue is hot and cooling. I inserted a pair of scissors to hold the clip open while it dried. Then I just pulled it off of the glue when it was set.
And that’s it! For Halloween you can add some makeup to your child’s face to complete the look, but I preferred to keep my little sweetie without make-up. 🙂
