I am so excited to be part of the 4th of July Ultimate Red, White, and Blue Roundup. 110 Bloggers are sharing some fabulous projects! Thanks to Abbey at The Cards We Drew for getting us all together.
Today I am sharing this DIY Patriotic Banner. It is so easy and festive!
Supplies:
- Fabric of your choice
- Iron on interfacing-Pellon
- Iron
- Jute or rope
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
First off take you fabric and iron it flat. I cut my fabric into 12″ wide strips so that I could fold it in half to make 6″ tall pennants. (if that doesn’t make sense, keep following and you’ll see what I am talking about. ) I used fabric scrap remnants that were probably around 20″ in length which worked out well for me to make several pennants from the length of fabric I was using. I did have some extra.
Next you’ll want to iron your fabric so that it is nice and flat in preparation for ironing on the pellon. I used a lightweight iron on pellon. When you’ve got the fabric ironed flat you can lay the pellon under it with the iron-adhesive side facing up to iron on the wrong side(back) of the fabric.
Next go ahead and fold in half lengthwise and iron it down so it will be 6″ tall folded in half.
Next up, cut out the width of your pennants. I did mine about 4″ wide.
Next you can cut your shape pennant. You can choose any shape you like. I just cut out a pyramid shape for this pointed banner. So easy.
Repeat this process will all of your fabrics and make enough pennants for the desired length of your banner. When you have all your pennants made you will put them together in order to attach to your jute or rope.
I opened each pennant and placed a line of hot glue at the seam and adheres the jute.
Continue with each pennant, let it dry and you have a fun pennant bunting banner! Let me know if you decide to make your own DIY Patriotic Banner. Also be sure to check out these other fabulous projects in the #ultimateredwhiteandblue Roundup.
