Today I am sharing a fun family night idea that will be sure to please! With October ushering in the holiday season, this time of year just gets downright crazy. As a family we try and designate one night of the week to spend together. Fall offers many fun activities for family night including pumpkin carving, “Spookly” movie night, making caramel apples, and our newest tradition the Halloween Lego Competition using the best toys…Lego’s! My son asked if we could have Lego building competition and I immediately thought it was a great idea. I love activities that encourage child development and provide good old fashioned fun.
To host a fun Lego Competition night, I needed to get a set of basic legos. My son has a lot of character Lego set’s that are put together (his desk and dresser look like a shrine of lego) but we needed some regular lego’s. As I was doing some pre-Christmas browsing online at Targets toy emporium I found exactly what I needed. They carry so many fabulous toys in their stores, but even a more vast selection online. The Lego’s I was looking for happened to be carried in the store so I hopped in the car and went to purchase my Lego’s.
Once I headed for the toy section I found the Lego isle clearly labeled and found my bins of Lego’s. This Lego bin had just the right amount various shapes, sizes, and types of Lego’s which worked perfectly for our little competition.
We had a blast building our Lego creations. With our Halloween theme we mostly all made monsters, I attempted a ghost but it was a bit tricky. 🙂
And the final creations…we had a hard time picking a winner! We counted it as a 3 way tie.
And how about these adorable Lego Cupcakes for the event?

Marie, we LOVED this idea. Last weekend we had a “spooky creature Lego contest” with Amare. It was a hit!!!! I learned that building Legos is not my talent or passion (seriously, my creature broke at least 99 times before completion!!- grrrr) but Kurt, Mars and I had such a fun evening! We sent pictures to my oldest son, who is the Lego Robotics Coach and an expert in the field. 😉 He picked the right one as the winner (duh, Amare kicked out booties). Thank you for the idea! 😀 Love your blog!
