Let’s talk kitchen’s shall we? This room has been on my mind lately. We knew we wanted to eventually update and personalize our very builder basic kitchen so we created a mood board of some design ideas we liked. I have always wanted white cabinets but my husband loves the dark wood.
Here is how our kitchen looked right after we moved in.
Here are some changes we plan to make, (we have been able to finish a few already):
- New floor
- Granite countertops- Completed!
- Undermount sink- Completed!
- Update paint-white ceiling- Completed!
- Tile backsplash
- possible cabinet painting- we will see if I can talk him into it!
- Paint table
- new rug
- Craftsmen trim around doorways and window-In Process
- new window treatments-In Process
I’ve been interested in possibly updating our flooring so I went and talked with Carpet One. I am an avid DIY’er but there are just some things best left up to the professionals. I learned this lesson the hard way with a sweet little queen anne chair with dated pink fabric that I was going to reupholster myself. Let’s just say there is a reason she didn’t make it on the blog. Total disaster! I ended up getting rid of it, and wishing I would have taken her to a professional upholsterer. From that moment on, I swore to throughly think and plan through my projects, and when the situation calls for a professional…hire a professional.
I love that Carpet One is locally owned by people who live in my community and they offer such a large selection, not to mention exclusive brands. The employees are experts in design, as well as installation, and they offer free In-Home or In-Office measurements. When I went into the store for my consultation they took time to talk with me about my needs and concerns. This was so huge for me because it always takes me a bit of time to process and make decisions and it is nice to have an expert hold my hand through the process without being pushy. I also love that if you are not 100% happy with your new floor they will replace it for free. I can tell you that gives me so much peace of mind, my biggest fear is I will choose one floor and then hate it after its installed. Now I just need to decide which floor!
Stayed tuned for updated pictures of our ongoing kitchen renovation. Slowly but surely we are plugging along on our first little home and I am excited to share the process with you! If you have a project coming up I’ve got some great news, right now Carpet One is having a Don’t Do It Yourself (#DDIY) Flooring Sale running from 3/6/15-4/19/15. You can check out all the details here, with up to 50% off select Lee’s carpets and up to $500 instant rebate on select hardwood, tile, laminate, LVT and more. It’s definitely worth checking out.
You should check out these other amusing don’t do it yourself videos here. Too funny! Have you ever had a diy moment gone bad?
